(g) Condensers from circa mid 1964 through 1970 on many distributors routed through a plastic plug in the bottom of the distributor. These distributors have a middle Bosch number of 137 and 147. Several very similar condensers were used during this time. The main difference between them is the length of the distributor wire, otherwise their fit and function should be the same. Consequently, the long-wire 02069 (1 237 330 245) has become the standard replacement for all of them. I've heard it claimed that the last 3 digits of these numbers indicate the length of that wire. A list of these includes the:

Regarding the 0231167053/113905205AH 1971-73 Autostick distributor:
The fall 1971 VW parts book says:(parenthesis note are mine)
1970: AD(012) and AE(029) units for M9/M157. (M9=Autostick, M157=USA spec)
1971: AH(053) for M9/M157 (plus M26 and M27 emissions)
The Bosch Feb 1971 listing shows:
1970: only the 012(AD) listed.
1971: only the 053(AH) listed. This is incorrect also as it says it's for both MT and AT.
Since this was published halfway into model year 1971 a mistake like this is understandable.
It does jibe with the VW parts book as the 012/AD for 1970 and 053/AH for 1971.
Okay, now... the Bosch 1978 Catalog says:
1970: the 029(AE) for AT with A/C, and 053(AH) for AT.
1971: the 012(AD).
1972: the 053(AH).
That does not match up with the VW parts book. It should be:
1970: the 012(AD) and 029(AE).
1971 - 73: the 053(AH).
The vacuum canister listed in the 1978 catalog also contradicts:
The 1970 053 listing, says it had a 07087 canister but then the 1972 053 listing says it had a 07092 canister.
Which is correct? The 07092(853) is correct.
Why? Speculation: Probably because the 07087 has a long number that ends in 853. I suspect someone typo'd it and then cross-referenced that to the short number. I don't even know what an 07087 fits.... (the 1996 Bosch catalog cross reference chart says it corresponds to the VW number 059905271B, which sounds like a water-cooled part, but it doesn't even list it in the "Buyers Guide" section as an available part.)
