This is the best performance exhaust for your classic VW. You get all of the performance from a stainless steel, sidewinder exhaust and it exits through the stock "peashooter" cut outs in the apron. The fastest VWs in the world run A1 exhausts

The mufflers on the A1 exhausts just sound better. These muffler's deliver an aggressive tone without being overly obnoxious like a stinger can be.

1-1/2" Header is Ideal for Engines Under 1914cc

The 1-1/2" header works great on engines under 1914cc. Generally, if you have a 1914cc or larger engine, you should probably use a 1-5/8" header, but if your engine is smaller than that, this 1-1/2" header is the way to go.

V-band Clamp for Easier Valve Adjustments

With a sidewinder style header, you have the take the muffler off in order to adjust the valves. With a standard, 3-bolt flange that means you need to replace the exhaust gasket. With the V-band clamp on this A1 muffler, you don't need a new gasket when you take the exhaust off. The design of the clamp ensures a leak-free seal allowing you to adjust the valves without worrying about needing a new gasket.

Made in the USA

The A1 mufflers and headers are made in Santa Ana, CA. Many of the other exhaust systems are imported from China and are knockoffs or imitations of the original A1 systems. It might cost a little bit more, but it's made in America!

Polished Exhaust Tips

The Sidewinder peashooter muffler comes with "show polish", stainless steel exhaust tips. Please note that these exhaust tips are polished and will require some level of maintenance to stay shiny. The rest of the exhaust system is standard stainless, but if you want the stock look of bright, "chrome-looking" tail pipes, you will need to make sure to maintain them, when the exhaust is cooled off, of course.
