My first car when I turned 16 was an Orange 1974 VW Thing. I didn't really understand at the time when my Father bought it for me what a priceless gift I had until it was gone. I had to sell my VW when I went off to College. I was heartbroken!

After graduating College, my Father approached me and said, "You've never gotten over selling your Thing, have you?" "No, I haven't Dad. There's nothing like picking up your besties, popping the doors off, dropping the windshield and cruising the beach!"

A few years later, my Dad called me and said he found something I need to come see. I pulled up to the house and in the driveway was an Orange 1974 VW Thing that needed ALOT of renovation. I started to tear up and my father said, "I will buy the VW, but it is your journey now to restore it."

For 25 years, I have been restoring my Thing. I have worked on everything from paint, tires, lights, doors, and I'm working on the horn right now. It's not a hobby for me, it's a legacy that I'm now teaching my daughter to enjoy and respect when she takes the keys.
