A half-century ago my wife and I left on our honeymoon in a 1968 green Bug. For our 50th Anniversary a year ago July, our four grown children presented us with this 1974 Super Beetle. It had to be green, the kids said, like the original.

So many memories we had together in our first little green Bug, and when her oncologist said my wife's long battle with cancer was nearing the end, the doctor said if there was someplace special in our little green Bug we wanted to go, now would be the time. We went.

She is gone now but when the owner of Thornewood Castle heard about my wife, and how special was this car, he said he would be privileged to have our picture - the Bug and me - photographed there.

Now I take to the road in our little green Bug, alone, and how the memories, and the tears, come flooding back.
