1970 Meyers Manx

David Veals

This is a picture that I took behind our house in Queen Creek Arizona, of my recently restored original 1970 Meyers Manx during a sunset. It’s unique because you’re looking east instead of west. The sun is setting behind me. The effect is dramatic making the Manx, desert and clouds look amazing. Even the moon made a cameo appearance.

I went for the period correct look on my origical 321st Meyers Manx II, made March of 1970, in Brilliant Red Metalflake with sidepods. Based on a 61 bug pan, shortened 14 1/4 inches. Featuring front disc brakes, PRP seats, removable steering wheel, 1640 cc dual port with sidewinder exhaust, Freeway Flyer transmission, Monza gas cap, with US Steel wheels and lots of JBug parts. Paint is House of Colour Red Metalflake with an extra jar of flake over a black base coat to be a perfect match to the original color. My painter Joseph deserves all the credit for the meticulous fiberglass repair and amazing paint.
