EMPI VW Accelerator Pedal Kit with Upgraded Roller Mechanism

The accelerator pedal, along with the rest of the pedal assembly, was redesigned by VW to alleviate the somewhat complicated pedal linkage that was used in prior models The upgraded assembly debuted in 1967 and was used in all Type 1 models (Beetles, Super Beetles, Karmann Ghias & Things) through the end of production in 1979. The accelerator pedal linkage and roller was a big improvement over the earlier version but with some of those pedal assemblies now well over 50 years old, the accelerator pedal, even with all new parts, can seem somewhat "notchy", and less than smooth. That is why so many cars have swapped over to roller pedal, which is actually a throwback to 1957 and earlier models that had a roller pedal from the factory!

Enough of all that though! EMPI has engineered a new roller lever with a sealed long life bearing equipped roller, that mounts to an lever. The upgraded Accelerator Pedal Kit includes a replacement pedal pad, pedal, and the exclusive EMPI lever, roller bearing, and mounting hardware. The accelerator pedal kit will improve the feel and engagement of the throttle for improved drive-ability and smoother acceleration. EMPI's upgraded Accelerator Pedal Kit fits 1967 through 1977 Standard Beetles, 1971 through 1979 Super Beetles, 1967 through 1974 Karmann Ghias and 1973 through 1974 Things.

Installation will require minor modification to the pedal hinge plate.
