1969 VW Beetle
Eric Gardner
I did all the work independently, from new floor pans to paint and body. All of the new parts were purchased from JBugs. The story behind the car is told in the car show poster. It reads:
"The 1969 Volkswagen Beetle "HotWheels" edition is a nostalgic nod to a classic car that has captured the hearts of automotive enthusiasts for decades. This "special edition", inspired by the popular Hot Wheels toy line, combines the timeless charm of the original Beetle with a playful and imaginitive twist. Featuring vibrant colors, custom decals, and unique design elements reminiscent of the toy cars. Whether admired as a piece of automotive history or enjoyed as a unique ride, the 1969 Volkswagen Beetle "HotWheels" edition continues to spark joy and nostalgia among car lovers of all ages.
The restoration project began in the autumn of 2021 and was finished in the summer of 2024. Eric Gardner from Hooper, Utah carried out all of the restoration work for his mother-in-law, Cathy Payne, as a gesture of gratitude for her support over the past two decades."
