1973 VW Beetle
Marc and Becca Algozzino
This is my wife's 1973 Beetle. She originally wanted a shell to use as a canvas for her art which she wanted to have sit in our backyard. I convinced her it needed to be mobile so we could easily move it around. So we found "Dorothy" on craigslist and the fun began!
Dorothy (my wife Becca is very much into Wizard of Oz and you'll see that theme throughout) had been sitting in storage for many years with a thick layer of dust and 4 flat tires. But she was stored indoors so rust was minimal and the motor was rebuilt shortly before she was put in storage.
We took care of what we could and repainted her with spray can paint as our budget was small and my wife was going to paint over most of it anyway. It was definitely challenging painting large areas with a spray can. Her goal was to paint her in hippie theme so many cartoons from the 60's, 70's and early 80's are predominant throughout. She also has "guest painters" (family and friends) paint on some of the designs.
