This brand-new Herth & Buss 12 Volt starter is a high-quality replacement for various air-cooled VW models. Manufactured in Germany, it offers superior reliability and performance for manual transmissions equipped with a 12 Volt, 200mm flywheel. Unlike rebuilt starters, this brand-new unit eliminates the need for a core charge.

Important Notes

If you are converting a 1966 or earlier Volkswagen to 12 Volt, DO NOT change your starter to a 12 Volt starter unless you have also upgraded to a 12 Volt, 200mm flywheel.
If your engine has been swapped with one that includes a 12 Volt flywheel, a 12 Volt starter is required.
For installing a 12 Volt starter in a transmission from a 6 Volt car, you will need a conversion starter bushing (Part #: 4027).
