These German made running boards are the highest quality running boards on the market for your air-cooled VW Beetle or Super Beetle Sedan or Convertible. This is a Right side (passenger side) only running board that feature high quality, ribbed, rubber mats and 18 millimeter aluminum side molding. This board is the stock replacement for the 1965-1972 Beetle and Super Beetle Sedan and Convertible. We also offer these same running boards with different molding widths for earlier or later Beetles.

Heavy Duty Mexican vs. OEM German Running Boards

The Mexican running boards are a decent choice for daily drivers and budget-conscious builds, but they are not restoration-grade or up to original German quality standards. The heavy duty Mexican running boards are much sturdier than many other aftermarket running boards that can be easily bent. However, they require trimming, adjustments, and significant effort for proper fitment, making them a challenging installation.

The OEM German running boards offer a better fit, superior mat quality, and an overall higher standard of craftsmanship, but at a higher cost. While the heavy-duty Mexican boards are less than half the price, they are also less than half the quality. If you’re willing to invest the extra time and effort, the Mexican boards can save you money. But if you want a hassle-free installation with lasting quality, it’s worth spending more on the German-made boards.
