It's been years since a truly new design has been available for Wide 5 (5x205) lug pattern equipped VWs, so the creative minds at JBugs decided to put their heads together. We came up with our 5 lug 20 Spoke wheel, and since we ran out of creativity designing the wheel, we just call it the 520S wheel. As this is a more modern styled wheel we decided that a modern size was in order, so we made a 17x7 wheel. For those that want a more traditional VW size wheel, we also offer the 520S in a 15x5" size.

Regardless of the size you choose, you get American made, lightweight, high quality, spun aluminum wheels. They are made with modern techniques from a proprietary marine grade ALCOA aluminum. The wheels are made from two spun forged, US made aluminum halves. The aluminum is sourced from metal suppliers in Ohio or Pennsylvania. The thick and strong material decreases the chances of warping and deflection and makes for an ultra strong yet lightweight wheel. The forged aluminum resists damage and cracking to the ball seat lug holes and the wheels are spun into a superior bead design to maintain a positive tire bead surface. The wheel halves are welded together for a leak free seal. The wheels come in a beautiful and unique satin finish which is not quite a polished finish yes still shines and unlike polished aluminum, it hides finger prints and smudges! If you do want that mirror-like look, we do offer a fully polished (front and back) version as well.

Will a 17x7 fit my VW?

Yes, they will. We used some of the already commonly available, VW specific, 17x7" wheels as a starting point for our wheel. We list the dimensions and backspacing of the wheel in the images above so you can verify the measurements on your VW. We can say for certain, that early, Swing Axle equipped VWs with short axles and short tubes will need to run a 1" wheel spacer to clear the wider wheel. We offer 1" thick wheel spacers here if you need them. We tested the 17x7 wheels on an extremely low 1960 Beetle with 195/40R17 tires in the front and 205/40R17s in the rear.

While you don't need center caps, they really do finish off the wheel. We offer these 5 lug VW center caps that can be purchased separately.

For Off Road Use Only

Wheels made in this method have been proven tough over thousands of miles off road racing. That being said, much like bead lock wheels (which are stronger than standard wheels) are sold for "off road use" only, so are these wheels.
