This kit does not include an alternator-style fan belt. Alternator fan belt 113X912 can be purchased separartely.
For customers using this kit to replace a 6 volt generator, they will also need to purchase a 12v alternator pulley 9191 as well.

This alternator conversion kit fits 40 Horse to 1600cc-based Type 1 VW engines. The kit comes complete with a NEW Bosch AL82N 55 Amp alternator instead of a cheap Chinese reproduction. If reliability is your goal, we recommend sticking with Bosch electrical components whenever possible. The kit also comes with an alternator stand, a strap and 3-piece backing plate set. The kit fits 1961 to 1973 Standard Beetle, 1971 to 1973 Super Beetle, 1961 to 1973 Karmann Ghia, 1973 Thing, and 1960 to 1971 Type 2 Bus models.

This alternator is internally regulated!
• If your VW has an externally regulated alternator, it will not be reused and your wiring must be modified.
• If your VW has a generator, the original voltage regulator for it must be removed and the wiring for it must be modified.

For an internally regulated alternator to operate, the D+ terminal must be wired to the negative side of a warning light bulb. A standard, incandecsent light bulb must be used. An LED light does not draw enough current to turn on the regulator in the alternator. The positive side of the light bulb should be powered by a key hot circuit.
