I bought the Thing in 1990 from the original owner. It was my sole means of transportation for 11 years. I drove it all over the Eastern Shore of Maryland during most of that time, but one year it traveled the beltway around DC everyday (in the far right lane of course).

Eventually we moved to Western MD in to the hills of Appalachia. The hills were tough so the Thing became a second car, fair weather stroller. It didn't move for 17 years.

Recently my circumstances allowed for a restoration budget and the rebirth process was put into place. I believe this car is part of who I am. It represents my soul.
