The Bosch 02074 VW Ignition Condensor bolts to the side of the distributor and connects to the coil and to the points. The condenser acts as a dampner for the points, preventing too much spark at the points which would burn the contacts and cause pitting. The 02074 condenser fits 1974 through 1977 Standard Beetles, 1974 through 1979 Super Beetles, 1974 Karmann Ghias, 1974 through 1979 Type 2 Bus models, 1974 Things and 1980 through 1983 Vanagons with original distributors.

Please note that the fitments listed are for what VW originally equipped the model listed with. It is very possible that after 40 years, the distributor may have been changed so we recommend verifying your distributor before ordering any distributor parts.



Beginner Tips:

The VW Ignition condensor is attached to the side of the VW distributor. It typically has a green wire and connects the points to the NEGATIVE side of the coil.
