This Wosp 1.3hp Gear Reduction 12 volt high torque starter fits stock VW Type 1, 002 (early bay window), and Mendeola transaxles with 12 volt flywheels. The starter is light weight, compact, and generates a ton of torque in a small package. It is self-supporting, so it does not require a bushing. And the starter housing is vented at the solenoid for better cooling. This starter features an adjustable mounting face. This starter is designed for use with transaxles that have a 33mm mounting surface-to-flywheel gap (Type 1, 002, and Mendeola). It will not fit 091 transaxles (late bay window), which have a 44mm gap between the the mounting surface of the trans and the teeth of the flywheel.
