87mm Pistons & Cylinders for Classic VW Engines

• Increases displacement and power of your stock VW engine
• 87mm pistons bring the displacement to 1641cc
• Must use a stock, 69mm crank
• No engine machine work is required
• Works with stock 1500cc or 1600cc heads
• If you have a 1300cc engine, you need to switch to 1500cc or 1600cc heads
• Does not work on 1200cc or smaller engines

The 87mm piston and cylinder kit is made by AA and comes as a complete set with hypereutectic aluminum alloy pistons, cast iron cylinder sleeves, wrist pins, clips and piston rings. The cylinders are made for the stock 69mm crankshaft and will fit 1300cc, 1500cc, and 1600cc engines. Installing the 87mm pistons and cylinders will change the displacement to 1641cc. 1300 engines will need 1500 or 1600 heads to fit the larger cylinders. The 87mm piston and cylinders sets will fit 1966 through 1977 Standard Beetles, 1971 through 1979 Super Beetles, 1966 through 1974 Karmann Ghias, 1963 through 1971 Type 2 Bus Models, 1962 through 1973 Type 3 models and 1973 to 1974 Things. The outer diameter of the cylinders (sleeves) is roughly 89.5mm at the case & 94mm at the head.

Machine Work and Cylinder Heads

• No machine work is required on 1300-1600cc engine cases
• If you currently have a 1500cc or 1600cc engine, you do NOT need new heads
• If you have a 1300cc engine, you must change to 1500cc or 1600cc heads
