The Crankshafts

Standard crankshaft on left, Stroker crankshaft on right.

In a stock VW chrankshaft, the crank throw measures 69mm. That is, the distance between the main journal centerline to the rod journal centerline. Anything larger than a 69mm crank throw is considered a stroker crankshaft. Stroker crankshafts will have longer arms, and heavier counterweights which may require clearancing the engine case in order to accomadate the larger crankshaft.
