1954-1977 Standard Beetle, Karmann Ghia, Type 3 & Thing Pitman Drop Arm Bolt Lock Plate
- Secures the pitman arm bolt to the arm
- Fits 1954-1977 Standard Beetle, Karmann Ghia, Type 3 & Thing
Why a Lock Plate?
The VW Pitman Arm Lock Plate installs in between the pitman arm bolt and the pitman arm with two of the ears laying over the arm. Once the bolt is installed and torqued down (to 50 ft/lbs) the remaining end of the lock plate is tapped over the head of the bolt to prevent it from loosening. If the bolt were to loosen and fall off, the pitman, or drop arm as VW called, it could literally drop off the steering box at which point you would have no way of steering your VW! So it is very important to make sure the pitman arm bolt is secured.Shipping
